Questions about training

I don't have my PSA yet — can I still join?

Yes. We welcome probationary representatives and actively support trainees through the PSA accreditation process. Our structured training pathway is designed specifically to prepare candidates for the Law Society assessment.

How long does the training pathway take?

The core programme runs over six weeks, combining self-paced online modules with live sessions. Phase 4 mentorship continues until your supervisor signs off your competency — typically two to four months after joining, depending on instruction volume.

Is the training paid?

Training and CPD events are provided free of charge to all representatives joining our network. You are not paid during training modules, but mentorship instructions taken in Phase 4 are remunerated at standard Legal Aid rates.

What if I'm already fully accredited?

Experienced representatives can fast-track through the foundations and go straight to onboarding and rota placement. We still require a short induction to cover our portal, claim procedures, and supervision structure.

Can I do this alongside my current firm?

In most cases yes, provided your current firm’s employment terms permit external legal aid work. We can provide a letter of engagement to assist your conversation with your firm’s management.
